June 2007
Members of the 297th Army Engineer Combat Battalion (The Jackrabbits) pose for a group photo during their reunion gathering in Chestnut Hill. The group of men, most of them teenagers when they landed with the initial waves on D-Day on the beaches of Normandy, June 6th, 1944, were part of the “Jackrabbits” Battalion that “cleared the way” for invading troops by clearing obstacles and constructing bridges.

The Jackrabbits, guests of the Chestnut Hill Hotel, expressed how much they enjoyed the hotel and the Chestnut Hill area. The group, which has held a reunion each year since the 50th anniversary of D-Day, said this was their best reunion yet!
